My entire teaching experience has been at a very diverse, high-needs high school in Seattle; over 80% of our student body qualify for free or reduced lunch, and over 90% are students of color. I tripled the number of students in our French program, as we went from one full-time to two full-time French teachers in three years; there are more students currently enrolled in French than Spanish. How did that happen? Through a combination of high expectation and a complete redesign of the curriculum, this is possible for anyone to accomplish in any school. I am passionate about language, about the history of the Francophone world, and encouraging students to explore the world through French.
