Kimberley Harter
AATF
SHF TEACHER REPRESENTATIVE (NY)
Mexico, New York
Bonjour! My name is Kimberley Harter and I am a recently retired French Teacher. Throughout my career, I taught for 33 years at Mexico Middle and High Schools, Levels 8, 1-5 and College 201 and 202. While at Mexico, I served as the World Language Coordinator, French Club and SHF Advisors and Class Advisors for the Class of 2011 and 2016. I also served on several committees, including the committee to rewrite the NYS World Language Standards. I coached Summer and Winter Guard for 22 years, which was a passion of mine from high school. Before retiring, I brought the Seal of Biliteracy Program to our school and now volunteer as a mentor for the French Students pursuing the SSB. I am a graduate of SUNY @ Potsdam and SUNY @ Oswego and attended La Sorbonne while completing "Les Cours de la Civilisation". Paris will forever have a special place in my heart! Traveling with the students was very important to me and so we traveled every 2 to 3 years to France, Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec while at the high school.
Presently, I serve as the National Council Teacher Representative for the SHF. I enjoy managing the website for the Central New York Chapter of the AATF and serving as the secretary of LECNY (Language Educators of Central New York) for the current term. I am also a NYSAFLT PAC Mentor for the Central NY region.
I am the proud mother of three children and one granddaughter. In my leisure time, I like to spend time with my husband of 37 years and my family. I also like to read, swim, garden, exercise, decorate, scrap book and play with my mini-dachshund puppy. I am very excited to meet you and share my educational experiences with you. I hope you will find my presentation interesting and useful! I look forward to meeting, speaking and collaborating with you!
