Of all the Francophone areas of the world, Quebec is one where the influence of its geography is still very prominent.  From the days of the early explorers to today's issues with climate change, water has served as a travel and trade route, a natural resource, and an economic boon. Starting with the St. Lawrence River and the history of its exploration, students can learn skills they can apply to other subjects, examine the relationship with First Nations as well as other explorers and invaders, and look at how people adapt to and manage their surroundings to survive and prosper.
