The presenter will argue that the breadth of Francophone cultures make the French language classroom uniquely posed to incorporate antiracist pedagogy and that instructors must engage in antiracist pedagogy to best support all students. Participants will learn the foundations of antiracist pedagogy, why it is important in the French language classroom, guidelines for implementation, strategies for handling difficult dialogues, and resources for authentic texts dealing with race. Participants will also design an activity using antiracist pedagogy.
